Bridal Reception Sarees
Few outfits change your look for the reception as gracefully as a saree. After a heavy Baraat outfit, the long drape, the pallu over one shoulder and a fitted blouse feel light, modern and completely different in photographs. Reception sarees are usually lighter than a saree worn for the ceremony itself: net, chiffon, organza or tissue, finished with sequins, crystal or metallic embroidery that catches the light, in champagne, pastel or deep jewel shades. Each saree is made to order, and on most designs the blouse neckline and sleeves can be adjusted before production. If you haven’t worn a saree before, plan a practice drape well ahead of the evening.

Reception saree or bridal saree?
Our bridal sarees are made for the ceremony: heavier fabrics, more embroidery and often traditional bridal colours. A reception saree trades some of that weight for shine and movement, so it’s easier to wear through a long evening and to dance in. Brides from Bengali and Indian families sometimes wear one saree for the wedding and another for the reception; if that’s you, keep the two clearly different in colour.
The blouse makes the look
A high-neck or full-sleeved blouse feels formal and covered, a cape or sheer-sleeved blouse feels contemporary, and a heavily embellished blouse with a plainer saree draws the eye towards your face. Because the blouse is stitched to fit, accurate bust, waist and shoulder measurements matter, and if you choose sheer sleeves, the sleeve lining costs nothing extra.
Draping and wearing it all evening
Practise the drape, or arrange for someone experienced to dress you on the day. Pin the pleats and the pallu securely, especially if you’ll dance, and check the length wearing your dancing shoes so the hem clears the floor.
