Bridal Reception Lehenga

A reception lehenga holds on to the South Asian shape for the evening, but it’s rarely a second Baraat outfit. Brides usually want something lighter to wear and fresher in colour: a pastel, metallic or jewel-toned lehenga with a more contemporary blouse or shirt and embroidery that shines under evening lights. It’s the right choice if you love the lehenga’s swing and want to dance, but don’t want to repeat the weight or the red of the wedding day. How it differs from a Baraat lehenga

A Baraat lehenga is usually the heaviest outfit of the wedding: deep red or maroon, densely embroidered and worn with one or two heavy dupattas. A reception lehenga lightens every part of that. The skirt is often less heavily worked, the dupatta is lighter or draped differently, and the blouse or shirt can be more modern, with a cape, a structured neckline or a short, fitted choli in place of a long shirt. Colours for the evening

Metallics are the reception favourite, since champagne, silver and gold look spectacular under chandeliers, and our gold bridal lehengas go further in that direction. Pastels such as blush, lilac, mint and powder blue feel fresh and modern, especially in spring and summer. For a winter reception, emerald, sapphire or plum give richness without echoing the Baraat’s red.

Lehenga, gown or saree?
