Silk Jamawar forms the base of the garment. Embroidery, collar and front detailing

Hand embroidery is combined with machine threadwork. Sequins, pearls, kora and dabka build the surface — kora giving a matte metallic finish, dabka a coiled line that sits slightly raised from the cloth. The high stand collar carries decorative work, as do the cuffs, and large embellished buttons run vertically down the front, drawing the eye along the length of the sherwani.

The sherwani is fully lined and can be ordered in slim fit or regular fit, or made to your own measurements. Length reaches approximately 47 inches at the longest, so the final proportion depends on your height and on the fit route you choose. Slim fit follows the body more closely through the chest and waist; regular fit leaves more room across the same points and sits easier over a longer day.

Customisation

Colour customisation is available, and selected changes to the embroidery or the design can be requested. All customisation is subject to feasibility, so it is worth raising any change before ordering rather than after.

Wearing it at a wedding

Grey occupies useful middle ground in South Asian wedding dress. It carries enough weight for a baraat while leaving the brighter end of the palette free, which matters when the bride’s outfit is the reference point. For a nikkah, where restraint usually suits the setting, the tonal treatment works in its favour. Sizing and measurements

Every sherwani here is made after the order is placed, not taken from stock. You can order a standard size from Small through to X-Large, or select Customized Size and supply your own measurements — neck, shoulders, sleeve length, full length, chest, waist and hips. If you are between sizes, or outside standard sizing, the customised route is the safer one on a garment this long, since the shoulder line is the single point that cannot be corrected afterwards.

Measure over a thin shirt with a soft tape, and take the measurements sitting alongside the diagrams on this page rather than working from your usual jacket size — the two scales do not match. Because each piece is produced to order, count the production time back from the wedding date before you decide.
